Regarding your question on the Tech student, the reason for mentioning the beer episode, if memory serves, is because the student was drunk. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 points out clearly that, "drunkards will not inherit the Kingdom of God." It is a false humility that ignores the obvious sins staring us in the face when we are sharing the gospel with those who are filled with self-righteousness. You were not there, so you do not know how this was addressed with the student. Since I was, I can tell you it was done gently, but firmly, with no offense taken by the student. In other words, it was done in love. Humility and love does not exclude truth. Oddly enough, the thing you object to was confirmed by the student's own conscience. That student knew that what she was doing was not consistent with the gospel. The gospel changes people. I know that is a radical concept here in the Bible belt, but it is a Biblical one. David,

Are you sure it wasn't a Verners? Please tell me what the beer had to do with anything? Why don't you add what kind of hat he had on .... or better yet, whether he was wearing gloves. Talk about adding unimportant things. No, wait, are you wanting to emphasize how ignorant he was? How hypocritical he was? What a humble way to explain how you evangelize. I was reading your post on the Christmas Parade and I couldnt help but recall how during a time recently as I was in the sanctuary late one night giving God the praise due him with all of my heart, when the Holy Spirit gently came upon me with a purpose to instill upon me the true nature of my worship. I had ceased abruptly and fell to my face in reverence to our great Father. My tears could never repay him for the great favor God has given to us, his Son. I encourage all to burnish our individual communion with him firstly because it was for Jesus we serve and die daily. God bless you and see you Friday!
