Evangelism Update December 29, 2008

Evangelism Memory Verse:

“You hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying, This people draws near to me with their mouth, and honors me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.”

 –Matthew 15:7, 8

 Evangelism Quote:

“Let any man shut himself up for a week with only bread and water, with no books except the Bible, with no visitor except the Holy Ghost, and I guarantee, my preacher brethren, that that man will either break up or break through and out.  After that, like Paul, he will be known in hell!”

–Leonard Ravenhill

 Evangelism Opportunities:

 1.  Wednesday, December 31, 8:00PM–Midnight:  TLC Ministries will take the Gospel to the Big D NYE event in Victory Park in Dallas, TX!  We missed this event last year, but plan on hitting it this year with strength.  Let’s close out a fantastic year sharing the Gospel with a full fledged effort to proclaim it with passion and boldness as Dallas turns out to party.  This event will draw thousands of people who MUST be reminded that there is a God and that they are accountable to Him.  Let’s exalt Christ!  Carpools will leave the Justin TX area at 7:00PM.  For carpooling info, contact Jon Speed at jon@lostcauseministries.com.

2.  Friday, January 2nd, 11:00AM-2:00PM:  TLC Ministries will go to the Cotton Bowl to preach the Gospel and pass out tracts.  We will meet at Gate #5 (Grand Gate) at Fair Park in Dallas.  If you would like to carpool from Justin, please contact Jon Speed at jon@lostcauseministries.com.

Evangelism Resources:

1.     Here’s a great way to use the upcoming Presidential inauguration as an opportunity for evangelism!  Check out the “America Wants Change” tract from One Million Tracts!  They are only $3.00 per pack of 100 and will get snapped up by your Democratic friends.

 2.   Here’s a great video sermon clip from John Piper called You Must Suffer.  It’s an excellent clip and very thought provoking.

3.    Here’s another thought provoking five minute presentation from a preacher named Bob Jennings called Don’t Be Deceived.  Definitely worth checking out.

4.    Here’s a great sermon from Voddie Baucham called “Contending for the Faith”.

5.   Here’s a sermon I preached at Garner Baptist Church a few weeks ago on prayer.  The Lord Jesus would have those of us who do evangelism PRAY that the Lord of the harvest raise up laborers for the harvest field.  He does not call us to clever strategies or marketing; He asks us to seek Him in prayer.  Here’s the link.

Evangelism Training Opportunities:

 1.  Reduced Price!  Reduced Price!  Reduced Price!  TLC Ministries is partnering with One Million Tracts and Sports Fan Outreach to do the Super Bowl Outreach in Tampa Bay, FL in January 29-February 1, 2009!  Come to Tampa for intense, powerful Biblical evangelism at one of the best venues to do evangelism in the world!  From personal experience, we can tell you this is a great opportunity to share Christ with the average Super Bowl fan, other partiers who attend the Super Bowl pre-game events, and celebrities.

This outreach is now ONLY $225 (plus your own airfare\travel) and includes: two meals per day, lodging, evangelism speakers, travel throughout the Tampa area, formal and informal personal training, customized tracts designed especially for this event, a t-shirt, and a commemorative picture from the outreach.

The following speakers have been confirmed for this event:  Tony Miano (Living Waters\Ambassador’s Academy), Al Whittinghill (formerly of Precept Ministries and now of Ambassadors for Christ International, recommended by Kay Arthur, Steve Green, Johnny Hunt, Leonard Ravenhill, Richard Owen Roberts, Ravi Zacharias, Vance Havner, Larry Burkett and others) , Dr. Elias Medeiros (professor of Missions at Reformed Theological Seminary) and Andy Lapins (Transfired Ministries).

3.  Here comes another great seminar opportunity!  On February 19-22, Anchored in Truth Ministries will host the “Wonderful Grace of Repentance” conference in Muscle Shoals, AL.  Guest speakers include Voddie Baucham, Conrad Mbewe (the Spurgeon of Africa), David Miller, Jonathan Sims, Paul Washer, and Jeff Noblit.

Special Prayer Meetings:

We have decided to hold a series of prayer meetings for the upcoming Super Bowl Outreach in Tampa, FL.  A contingent from Dallas will be traveling together as a carpool.   We’re also asking everyone to consider fasting for this outreach as well.  We won’t presume to tell you when or how to fast, but to do so in accordance with your Biblical understanding of the practice of fasting.

Please plan on coming out to pray even if you are not able to attend the outreach.  Your prayer support means so much!

The meetings will be held on the following Saturday mornings at 8:00AM in January at First Baptist Church of Justin in Room 103.

January 11th.

January 18th

January 25th

Prayer Update:

1.  Pray for Ron and Jon as they prepare for upcoming court appearances on July 30, 2009.  Pray for the CLA as they prepare the cases.

2.  Pray for the upcoming outreaches.

3.  Prayerfully consider attending the Super Bowl Outreach in Tampa Bay next month.

4.  Pray that the Lord will prepare the hearts of those who will hear the Gospel in Tampa next month.

5.  Pray that the staff of TLC will grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

6.  Pray for the financial situation of TLC Ministries.  We are beginning to raise support for the time when our salaries are cut by 33% by February 1st.  We are confident that the Lord will continue to provide.

7.  Pray for Kim Speed as she recovers from her recent miscarriage.  Her iron levels are low and she continues to rest and recuperate.

8.  Pray for all of the upcoming outreaches.  We need protection from those who oppose the Gospel, favor with the authorities, good soil hearers, and wisdom to present the Gospel carefully and accurately.
